| Niagara-on-the-lake is home to waterfront trails and parks that wind through the grapevine rich landscape creating the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a scenic bicycle tour, a leisurely walk or a quiet picnic.
The picturesque Niagara countryside is dotted with over 50 wineries, many of which produce some of the most widely respected ice wines in the world. The many winery boutiques offer exclusive vintages, samples of all types of award winning wines and tasting classes. You will also find many wineries offer unparalleled dining experiences, vineyard concerts and plays, and retail shopping.
Niagara on the Lake is also home to the Shaw Festival, a renowned theater company whose expertise and talent draws thousands of visitors to the area each year. The Shaw festival presents theatrical works from three different locations throughout the town the Festival Theater, the Court House Theater and the Royal George Theater. The company selects a flagship play by George Bernard Shaw to perform each year as well as a variety of both popular fare and challenging works.
For some serious excitement, travel up world class rapids at 65 mph on the Whirlpool Jet Boat tour. The boat speeds up river through the Devil’s Hole Rapids towards the legendary Whirlpool just a mile below the tumbling waters of Niagara Falls and after an hour of water drenching fun, the boat returns you to the starting point at Niagara on the Lake.
The golf enthusiast will be delighted to play a round on North America’s oldest golf course located in the Olde Towne right on the banks of Lake Ontario. After, golfers can continue to test their skill (or patience!) on one of the five fabulous courses located in the near vicinity to Niagara on the Lake.
